+Using some of the links on the portal don't go anywhere. Is it being "blocked"?

-The first thing to check is if a pop-up blocker is the problelm.
Check if the Google or Yahoo browser toolbar has been installed. The toolbars have Popup Blocker options/functionalities. If the Popup Blocker is enabled, then popups are blocked, thus resulting in the error message. To resolve this, either disable the Popup Blocker option/functionality, OR
if it is enabled, press the 'CTRL' key, while clicking on the icons to launch the popup.
Also, pop-up blocker has been added to newer versions of Internet Explorer and is automatically turned on. It will let you know when certain windows are blocked and then allow you to view them. But in order to keep you from having to allow a lot of different entries you can do the following to allow all tuolumnecounty.ca.gov pages to load.
In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu -> Internet Options -> Privacy tab -> Pop-Up Blocker -> Settings button .
In the field where it says "Address of website to allow" put "tuolumnecounty.ca.gov", without the quotation marks. It will add an entry that will allow all of the various areas of our site to appear on your screen, including maps, PDFs, and so on.

+How do I tell if I'm on the Portal or one of the other sites?

-The header across the top of the page has a gold bar on the left side that contains the name of the portal or site you are visiting. In the case of the Portal it will read "Portal Home Page".

+How Can I Print Pages from the Portal?

-Most of the pages have a print button in the upper right corner. For those that do not, use the Print Preview
Got to File > Print Preview
then if the page is going to be broken horizontally, you may want to go to Page Set Up and change from a portrait to a landscape orientation.

+Why do I have to scroll sideways to see all of the page?

-The Portal is set so that a screen resolution of 1024 by 768 or larger, will give the best results. If you are using a setting of 800 by 600 or smaller, horizontal scrolling will be unavoidable.

+Do you have a method for searching the portal for items of interest?

-Sure, in the upper right hand corner is a search box. Type your search term(s) in the box and then click on the button to its right.

+What is the "My Links"? It doesn't seem to do much.

-My Links is much like a "Favorites" section on your internet browser. It will store links to pages to make returning to them easier. But, it only works for those that have a sign-in name and password. the ability to Sign-in is not yet available, but is planned for the near future.

+What's up with the "LIVING", "WORKING", "VISITING", " BUSINESS", "GOVERNMENT", and "EMERGENCY" across the top of the opening page?

-Those are part of the taxonomy, or organization, of the Portal. They provide access to information according to the interests of someone Living in Tuolumne County, or Working here, or Visiting us, and so on.

+How can I offer suggestions for the website?

-You can email the webmaster at Suggestions for the Portal. If your suggestion or comment is for a specific department you can go to Contact Us page, or the bottom of this page and email the department directly.

+How will the County Portal help during an emergency?

-When the County declares an emergency the homepage of the portal will change and will have a tab, "ATTENTION-EMERGENCY", that will be attached to an "Emergency Notification" page containing an "Emergency Incident Report" with all available information regarding the emergency. The page will also have links to maps and other information regarding the emergency.
+Why do I need to have "Cookies" enabled on my computer, in order to use your site?

-The County's site is a very secure, complex site. It uses a number of Application Servers, Web Servers, File Servers, Ftp Servers, and Reverse Proxy Servers. For the system to know where to make the correct connections, a cookie with the appropriate information must be present on your computer.

+How can I send a link to one of your pages in an email?

-There are two ways. One applies to our Intranet as used by county employees and the other applies to the Internet as used by the public. The public can just copy and paste the URL from the address bar in the browser, while on the page they wish to send.
The employees have to make some changes to the URL they copied from the address bar of the intranet portal: The URL is taken from the address bar when on the target page, as shown below. http://piadb2.co.tuolumne.ca.us/psp/intra/TUP_ASSESSOR/ENTP/h/?tab=TUP_ASSR_ARCHIVIST_TAB The URL below is the modified address that will take you to the page from "outside", that is on the internet. The changes consist of: 1.) change the piadb2.co.tuolumne.ca.us to www.tuolumnecounty.ca.gov and 2.)change the /intra/ to /ps/ http://www.tuolumnecounty.ca.gov/psp/ps/TUP_ASSESSOR/ENTP/h/?tab=TUP_ASSR_ARCHIVIST_TAB That's it. But to test it (and pehaps avoid embarrassment), send it to yourself in an email and try it out. The URL above goes to the Archivist page.
