Employment Requirements

The following conditions of employment must be met by all Tuolumne County employees.

Direct Deposit
Tuolumne County requires that all employees be paid by direct deposit. We have an agreement with a local bank to accommodate those who are unable to establish an account.

Fingerprinting
Applicants who have been offered a classified position may be required to be fingerprinted.

Immigration Law
At the time of hire, applicants must meet the documentation requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Medical Examination
Applicants offered classified positions are required to take a medical examination prior to their first day on the job. Medical examinations shall be conducted by a physician employed by the county for this purpose, unless the personnel officer authorizes an examination by another physician. The purpose of the medical examination is to determine the medical and physical fitness of the applicant to perform the essential duties of the position. An inquiry may be made into the medical history and present medical condition of the applicant, as it relates to the ability to perform the essential duties of the position. Failure to meet medical standards may result in termination or withdrawal of appointment.

Drug & Alcohol Testing
Applicants offered initial classified positions and those positions covered by the Department of Transportation drug testing regulations shall be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing after being offered the position but before starting. The purpose of this test is to eliminate substance abuse and its effects in the county workplace. Applicants failing the test will have their employment offer rescinded.

Oath of Allegiance
California Government Code Section 3100 et seq. requires that all officials and employees must execute an oath of allegiance as follows:

“I, ________________________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely; without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.”

Reasonable Accommodation
If you have a physical or mental condition, which requires us to make reasonable accommodation for the testing process, please contact Human Resources.
