The Tuolumne County Public Library turns 100 years old this July, and to mark the occasion, the Friends of the Tuolumne County Library and the Library Staff have planned a month-long celebration. In addition to plenty of birthday cake and balloons, there will be entertainment and activities for people of all ages.
The Friends and staff want residents to visit the library and discover what a great resource it is for people of all ages. “Most people in the County know about the main library located in Sonora,” comments Chrys Day, President of Friends of the Tuolumne County Library, “however, they may be unaware of the library branches in Groveland, Twain Harte, Tuolumne City, and the Bookmobile. So, the Friends and Library Staff have organized activities to encourage people to visit the libraries and see what they have to offer.”
One of these activities, called Passport to Festivities, provides incentives for people to visit not only the libraries, but also museums, state parks, and to shop, dine and be active along the way. “Many local businesses are partnering with us to encourage people to get out and explore the County. These businesses have donated products and services for the raffle basket, or they are providing discounts to the passport participants for shopping, dining, and activities,” states Day. “Participants who complete the twelve required destinations in the Passport will have a chance to win the Grand Basket of Tuolumne County Products & Services.” The Passport to Festivities runs from July 1st through July 31st.
