The Rim Fire continues to be active in the Stanislaus National Forest and is being managed by the Type One Blue Incident Management Team from the United States Forest Service which is in unified command with CalFire. On August 19, 2013, the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Randy Hanvelt declared a local state of emergency. On August 21, the Board held a special meeting to ask the Governor to declare an immediate State of Emergency related to the fire. The following day, the Governor proclaimed a State of Emergency for Tuolumne County. An evacuation shelter is open at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds and is staffed by the Red Cross.
