District Attorney's Office Proposed Closure to Public Without Appointment

Sonora, CA - District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke announced today that on July 18, 2023, the Tuolumne County District Attorney's Office will be requesting approval from the Board of Supervisors to close the District Attorney's Office to the public without prior appointment due to budget cuts, which were required of our Department by the County to balance the General Fund budget shortfall for Fiscal Year 2023 - 2024.

Under this proposal, staff members of the Criminal Division, Bureau of Investigations, and Victim Witness Assistance Center would reachable by email and phone from 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday, excluding County holidays, and in-person visitors will be welcomed by appointment.

The prior press release announcing the change in hours was premature as Board approval is required to change public access to county buildings under Tuolumne County Ordinance Code Section 2.08.010.
