NEW Community Green Waste Diversion Program

Tuolumne County faces significant challenges in managing residential green waste.

The Community Green Waste Diversion Program is designed to reduce the open burning of residential green waste and support compliance with defensible space requirements. This initiative presents numerous advantages, including environmental protection, cost savings, community safety and resource recovery. By implementing this program, Tuolumne County is taking a proactive approach to sustainable waste management.

This program is currently in a pilot phase and is available to active Firewise USA communities in Tuolumne County and the City of Sonora.
