Today, Tuolumne County District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke announced that a criminal complaint was filed against Christopher Mark Jacobs, age 44 of Jamestown, CA, related to the assault of a 24-year-old man in Jamestown, CA, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Jacobs was arrested on January 31, 2025, but he posted bond and was released from custody. HIs arraignment is scheduled for February 24, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 4 of the Tuolumne County Superior Court.
He is charged with a felony violation of Penal Code section 245(a)(4), assault with force likely to commit great bodily injury, and it is further alleged that he personally inflicted great bodily injury to the victim in violation of Penal Code section 12022.7. He is further charged with a felony violation of Penal Code section 243(d), battery causing serious bodily injury.
Additionally, the District Attorney's Office also filed an amended juvenile petition against the 17-year-old to add an additional charge of a felony violation of Penal Code section 245(a)(1), assault with a deadly weapon. This addition was made possible by the on-going investigative efforts of the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office.
Prosecutors are bound by an ethical obligation to file only those charges and enhancements that we believe we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt at the time of filing. Investigation into the motive behind the assault remains on-going.
