Sonora, CA - District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke announced today that access to the Tuolumne County District Attorney's Office will be limited until early next week due to utility outages at the 423 North Washington Street location.
On Friday afternoon, a vehicle drove into a PG&E power pole on North Washington/Shaws Flat Road. That PG&E power pole provided both electricity and AT&T fiber-optic cable internet service to the DA's Office. The pole was destroyed and it caused a catastrophic failure of the building's electricity and internet utility access.
Electricity was restored Sunday. However, internet access remains down; this substantially affects the Office's ability to operate as it require internet service to operate the cloud-based case management system and the phones require internet service to send and receive calls.
This damage requires repair to the building's roof, the connection from the utility to the building, and the fiber-optic cable itself. The earliest estimate of internet service restoration is Friday, April 18, 2025.
Members of our Office are working offsite either in other county buildings, at the courthouse, or remotely. Phone service should be available in the Office's temporary worksite tomorrow such that calls during regular business hours will be answered as normal.
For additional information, please email the office at da@tuolumnecounty.ca.gov or call 209-588-5450 after 9AM Tuesday April 15, 2025.
