Sonora, Calif. – Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office announced today the filing and conviction statistics for the second quarter of their DUI Prosecution Unit. The DUI Prosecution Unit was created in October 2024, and funded by a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
The statistics for the second quarter of the grant are as follows:
- DUI Cases Reviewed: 116

The DUI Prosecution Unit hosted the second quarterly law enforcement roundtable meeting, which was attended by the California Highway Patrol, Sonora Police Department, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, and Tuolumne County Probation. The roundtable group has been focused on generating ideas to increase awareness and education regarding the dangers of drinking and driving, as well as creating a fatal response protocol, which will be deployed in the event that there is a DUI related fatality.
The DUI Prosecution Unit is currently staffed by one experienced prosecutor from the District Attorney’s Office. The program is currently funded through September 2025. The District Attorney’s Office has submitted our application to receive the grant again for the 2025-2026 grant year.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
