[ARCHIVED] Aaron Hagerman Sentenced to 11 Years + 7 to Life in Prison

Sonora, California –– Tuolumne County District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke announced today that on May 2, 2024, Aaron Hagerman, a resident of Jamestown, was sentenced to 18 years to life in state prison. He will have to serve the determinate term of 11 years first and then begin a 7 to life indeterminate sentence.

This sentence comes after a 5 day jury trial, when on January 30, 2024, the jury returned verdicts of Guilty to the allegations of Second Degree Robbery, Kidnapping, and Kidnapping for Carjacking as well as finding true allegations including that the crime involved great violence, great bodily harm, threat of great bodily harm, or other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness, or callousness; the victim was particularly vulnerable, and the manner in which the crime was carried out indicates planning, sophistication, or professionalism.

The convictions arose from an incident that occurred n December 22, 2022, when the defendant along with two co-conspirators lured the victim, who had recently won thousands of dollars at the casino, to a trailer in Jamestown. There, the victim was tied up and assaulted by the defendant while his car was searched for the casino winnings. After assaulting the victim, the victim was then put in his vehicle and driven by the defendant and the co-conspirators to a remote location where they left the victim on the side of the road without any way to call for help and took his vehicle. Fortunately, an ambulance drove by a time later and was able to transport the victim to the hospital. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and soon detectives began a thorough investigation that included electronic evidence that showed the planning. The co-conspirators were also charged and resolved their cases with pleas of guilty.

Mr. Hagerman was on probation at the time of the above offenses for Bringing Controlled Substances into the Jail and Failing to Register Pursuant to Penal Code section 290 in December of 2018. His prison sentence from May 2, 2024 includes his probation being revoked and being sentenced to prison in that case as well.

The case was prosecuted by now retired Assistant District Attorney Eric Hovatter.
