The Office of the Tuolumne County District Attorney announces that it has filed criminal charges against eighteen year old Tuolumne County resident Zachary Kuhl. He has been charged with eleven counts of first degree residential burglary (Penal Code section 459), thirteen counts of unlawful sex with a minor more than three years younger than him (Penal Code section 261.5(c)), six counts of contacting a minor to obtain child pornography (Penal Code section 288.3(a)), eight counts of possessing child pornography (Penal Code section 311.11(a)), one count of arranging a meeting with a minor to commit a lewd act (Penal Code section 288.4(a)) and one misdemeanor count of unlawful sex with a minor less than three years younger (Penal Code section 261.5(b)). The conduct spans a time period from January to August of 2016 and involves eight underage victims.
District Attorney Laura Krieg wants residents of the county to know that her office takes the targeting of underage victims for sexual exploitation extremely seriously and understands that social media may attempt to litigate the issues in this case through various forums. For that reason minimal information will be provided, as the Office of the District Attorney is committed to protecting the privacy of the underage victims and their families in this case. Furthermore, the District Attorney’s Office is ethically obligated to only discuss those matters that are part of the public record.
