[ARCHIVED] Local jury convicted Daniel Escobedo of Battery on a Custodial Officer at Sierra Conservation Center

On October 9, 2013 a local jury convicted Daniel Escobedo of Battery on a Custodial Officer. Inmate Escobedo is serving a prison term for a 2012 conviction for a Felony Assault and Felony Gang Activity.

In December 2012 Inmate Escobedo was required to submit to a search of his person and he refused and tried to push past a Correctional Officer at Sierra Conservation Center battering the officer in the effort. The trial was completed within one working day.

Tuolumne County was represented by Deputy District Attorney Clint Parish. Parish stated he was thankful to the jury for their close attention and to Correctional Officers for their professional conduct.

Inmate Escobedo has one prior strike conviction and will face up to eight years in prison. That sentence would be consecutive the commitment he is currently serving. The Honorable Judge Eric DuTemple presided over the one day trial and is scheduled to conduct sentencing on November 4, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 1 of the Tuolumne County Courthouse.
